Financial Stability Summit
In partnership with the United Way and a number of local community organizations, the Office of Public Engagement and University of Illinois Extension established a Financial Stability Task Force in 2013. The group meets on a monthly basis to address the financial health needs of the greater Champaign County area. The first Financial Stability Summit was held in July 2014 with more than 60 attendees from social services organizations and financial institutions. A second summit took place in July 2015, with State of Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs addressing the group followed by a panel of local experts on affordable housing. Through the summits and several smaller committee activities, the Financial Stability Task Force is bringing together representatives from the social and financial sectors to ensure that relevant financial products and services are available to promote the financial stability of all members of the community.
