Employees and Retirees Donate $1.3 Million to Charity in 2015
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Campus Charitable Fund Drive (CCFD), through which Illinois employees and retirees donate more than all other state agencies combined, raised more than $1.3 million during the 2015 campaign. Sponsored by the Office of Public Engagement, CCFD is the annual, eight-week employee fund drive that has supported charitable organizations since 1929.
More than 3,040 donors contributed donations to twelve charitable agencies, which serve more than seven hundred different programs. All money raised goes directly to the charities as the University covers all administrative costs for the fund drive.
More than two hundred and sixty individuals across campus volunteer as leaders for their sections and units, providing important information about the campaign and encouraging colleagues to make pledges large and small. The CCFD Advisory Board, a committee appointed by the Chancellor, works year-round to create the fund drive and guide its execution. The 2015 Advisory Board was chaired by Allan Stratman, Executive Director of Facilities and Services.”The needs of our community have never been greater”, says Stratman, “University of Illinois employees have stepped up to meet that need and generously given above and beyond. They are to be congratulated on a job well done.”
CCFD donations support a wide array of organizations - - local food banks, state entities that serve and protect children, organizations that preserve the environment, sanctuaries for abused and abandoned animals and funds for student mentoring and support.
“As part of our land grant mission, we have a responsibility to improve the community in which we all live and work,” said Interim Chancellor Barb Wilson. “I’m proud that our staff, faculty and students have once again expressed their strong support of that mission through their CCFD contributions.”
More than 21% of University of Illinois employees contributed to CCFD. The average contribution was more than $400. When employees give to CCFD, they just don’t make a donation, they make a difference.
