About the Program

male and female student studyingIllinois in Washington is for students of all majors.

Whether you are interested in our political process, in business and economics, in the myriad of ways in which government affects your life, or if you are just curious about what goes on in Washington, IIW has something for you.

And no, you don't have to be a political science or business major to reap the benefits of IIW. In fact, IIW can be as interesting and beneficial to almost any major as it is to political science or business majors.

So no matter what your current interests or future plans are, you should consider interning in Washington.

Illinois in Washington will
  • help you prepare for your stay in DC;
  • assist you in obtaining housing in historic row house apartments near Capitol Hill with other IIW students;
  • supply an onsite coordinator to help you adjust to life and your internship in Washington; and
  • provide relevant academic courses that allow you to earn up to 12 U of I credits.
